Communication Skills and Language Proficiency

Terminologies

Language: The method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way.
Communication: The imparting or exchanging of information or news.
Proficiency: A high degree of competence or skill; expertise.
Skills: The ability to do something well; expertise.
Language Proficiency:  is the ability to use a language spontaneously for real world purpose.

  • Being able to communicate effectively is perhaps the most important of all life skills. It is what enables us to pass information to other people, and to understand what is said to us. You only have to watch a baby listening intently to its mother and trying to repeat the sounds that she makes to understand how fundamental is the urge to communicate. https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ips/communication-skills.html
  • Communication, at its simplest, is the act of transferring information from one place to another. It may be vocally (using voice), written (using printed or digital media such as books, magazines, websites or emails), visually (using logos, maps, charts or graphs) or non-verbally (using body language, gestures and the tone and pitch of voice). In practice, it is often a combination of several of these. https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ips/communication-skills.html
  • Language proficiency  is the ability of an individual to speak and perform in an acquired language. As the theories vary among pedagogues as to what constitutes proficiency, there is little consistency as to how  different organization classify it.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO BECOME AS PROFICIENT AS I WOULD LIKE?

The time that it will take to reach a given level of proficiency depends on a lot of factors, including:
  1. The language that you are studying
    • For example, if your first or native language is English, it will most likely take longer for you to reach a given level of proficiency in Arabic than in French.
  2. The amount of time and effort you devote to learning and using the language
  3. Your current level of proficiency
    • It takes longer to move from Intermediate to Advanced than it does to move Novice to Intermediate.
Communication is a very important skill in life. Without communicating with others, you become isolated. You need communication when dealing with a teacher, friend, family. Communication involves writing, reading, speaking, and listening. In addition, it includes accent, your pitch, body language, and word delivery.
It can improve your communication skills by listening. Listening is the first skill that human being learn.Just listen simple things we can learn something on it. Also in reading and writing , it can improve our communication skills by reading books and writing notes. We need to improve our communication skills and language proficiency because it is useful to apply any job. We need to learn English language because English is an universal language.
